On Wednesday's I am going to have my husband do an article about Disney from his point of view. He has the rare insight of being a Disney hater turned Disney fan.
He first went to Walt Disney World for our honeymoon in June, 1998. As many of you know Florida in June is awful. The heat and humidity don't stop, and don't even get me started about the crowds during the summer. Everyone is out of school and takes their family vacations during the summer months. Heat + humidity + crowds = grouchy dad. His next two experiences was when we took our kids in June 2005 and July 2008. If you know how hot it is in June in Florida you know that July is even worse. He spent the entire time complaining about heat and the cost of everything.
Once the kids, my mom, and I started going in October I kept telling him how great it was. Less heat, a lot less humidity, and a nice level of crowds. He didn't really want to listen, he assumed Florida was hot all year round. After several years of asking him to go and him saying no, he finally relented and went with us in October 2014. He really only agreed to go because of the Harry Potter attractions at Universal Orlando but we were just thankful to get him there.
Once he arrived in Florida he realized that I was right (shocker) and the heat and crowds were much better. He enjoyed himself and is now a Disney fan himself. In 2015, we wanted to take a trip just the 2 of us and decided to go to New Orleans to visit friends but he said that he wanted to add Disney to it to. We ended up only going to Orlando and we went in December. He had so much fun. He now says that Disney is worth the price with the entertainment you get and he doesn't mind spending the money if we can all enjoy ourselves.
This brings us to this year. He is already excited about our trip in October (215 days!!) He is even loving to help with the planning process.
So, Joe will start next Wednesday with an article about Disney (or that other place).
Thanks :)
